*** A Visit to The Crossness Engines ***

As members of Colas we visited the Crossness engines in 1999. It was with great joy that we found a dedicated group of volunteers working against great Odds to complete a mammoth task in breathing life into one of the Largest rotative beam engines in the world. Set in a wonderful building, a perfect period building in its own right, are four of these engines. Our return on the 20th Sept 2003 as friends of one of the volunteers, Reg Allen, was a complete surprise. The following photo gives you an idea of the size of the task they have undertaken since 1985, when this project started.

*** The site was full of Decay, Rust and Pigeon droppings ***
